Exciting Updates August Edition

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates and initiatives happening at Cornwall on Hudson Special Events (COHSE). Our aim is to enhance communication and awareness around the fantastic events taking place in the greater Cornwall area, including those we are hosting ourselves. Additionally, we want to keep you informed about our ongoing efforts to strengthen community bonds and create unforgettable experiences for all.

To cater to everyone's preferences, we have expanded our communication channels to include various platforms:

Established in 2016 by Mike Trainor and Dominic Cordisco, COHSE is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the vibrant village of Cornwall-on-Hudson and the greater Cornwall in New York. Our community-driven initiatives focus on curating events and supporting community initiatives that foster a sense of belonging, promote social interaction, and bolster our local business community. Our motto is "bringing people together one event at a time."

Most locals are aware of our two major efforts, the NYE Ball Drop and Movies on the Hudson events. Last year, we collaborated with local committees to create a Tree Lighting Festival that united the Town and Village efforts to mark the beginning of the holiday season. In partnership with Storm King Engine, we organize the Village tree lighting experience. Last year introduced a new tradition – delivering the NYE ball on a float, parading through the town and Village and built a special new place to visit Santa and take photos in an incredible chair. This year, we continue our partnership with Storm King Engine and have BIG plans that we are eagerly looking forward to sharing- here is a teaser.

In addition to our established events, we are proud to announce several new initiatives and fundraising efforts:

1. Movies on Hudson: This event now serves as a platform for supporting local committees and groups. We've already partnered with the 4th of July and Youth Committees, helping them raise funds for their endeavors benefiting the greater Cornwall area.

2. Fabulous Dinner Series: Our intimate dinner series held in exclusive and unique locations throughout the gorgeous greater Cornwall area has been a resounding success. The first dinner was sold out, and we're thrilled to announce the second one on Monday, August 21st (Midsummer's Night Soiree).

3. "Village Tavern": A collaborative effort with Storm King Lounge, the Village Tavern is a pop-up bar that will provide refreshing drinks at public events in the greater Cornwall area. Local committees and non-profits seeking fundraising support during their events can use this platform. Our first appearance will be at the upcoming Art Walk on Friday, August 11th in the Storm King Vestibule where we will serve refreshing beverages and celebrate the art community by starting a community painting which will be gifted to the Town of Cornwall and displayed at Munger Cottage once the art walk wraps up for the season.

4. "The Corn Ball": In appreciation of our wonderful community, both businesses and individuals, we will host the inaugural "Corn Ball" Community Awards Ceremony on November 9th. More details will follow soon!

5. The Junior Ball Drop: An idea inspired by the Youth Committee; we are launching a NYE celebration for the kids this year. Stay tuned for details, which will be revealed around the time of the tree lighting event when we reveal plans for the Ball Drop.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our incredible and generous community. Your contributions, both financial and in kind, have been invaluable in making these events successful. From providing stunning event spaces for our fabulous dinner series to crafting the NYE ball and sharing your talents, businesses and space, you make it truly magical to call Cornwall home.

Thank you for being a vital part of the magic of our community and supporting Cornwall on Hudson Special Events.
