Since 2016, the Cornwall-on-Hudson Special Events Committee has been dedicated to a simple yet meaningful mission: bringing our community together, one event at a time. What started as an effort to continue the tradition of a New York City-style New Year’s Eve celebration in the heart of the Village and host movies at Donahue Park has grown into a series of year-round events that unite our neighbors and create lasting memories.
We have been fortunate to partner with incredible local organizations, including the Fourth of July Committee, Storm King Fire Engine Co. 2, the Donahue Committee, and the Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce. We partner with these committees to share our platform in order to support their community efforts. We are an open community platform looking to unite everyone in the community who is doing great things that benefit the place we call home. Most recently, we joined forces with the Cornwall Youth Committee, allowing us to expand our event offerings. Through this partnership, we’ve introduced new traditions such as the Youth Color Bash Run, Holiday Story Time, Sensitive Santa, and the early evening Jr. Ball Drop on New Year’s Eve, complete with a second fireworks show for families with young children.
The Power of Community Events
Community events are more than just celebrations—they are the heart of a thriving, connected, and economically strong community. These events bring people together, creating shared experiences that foster a sense of belonging and pride in our town and village. Additionally, they drive economic opportunity by attracting visitors, increasing foot traffic to local businesses, and encouraging spending at restaurants, shops, and other small enterprises. A vibrant events calendar is a key part of building a strong, resilient, and dynamic local economy, ensuring that both residents and businesses benefit.
By supporting community events, you are not only helping preserve cherished traditions but also investing in the future of greater Cornwall as a place where businesses thrive, families flourish, and neighbors come together.
Our 2025 Goal: $20,000 for 12 Community Events
We have an ambitious lineup of 12 exciting events planned for 2025, and to make them possible, we must raise $20,000. While our local government has been highly supportive, funding these events solely through tax dollars is not feasible. We rely on the generosity of our community—people like you—who recognize the importance of bringing people together through meaningful celebrations.
